QWC appoints Woods as new CEO

The Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) has appointed Katie Woods as its new CEO, replacing Meg Vann, who stepped down from the position in February.

Woods joins QWC from the State Library of Queensland (SLQ), where she was manager of Reading, Writing and Ideas, which included working with QWC on a number of partner projects. Woods previously held other programming roles at SLQ and was orchestra manager at the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

QWC chair Kevin Gilliespie said Woods brings a ‘unique blend of experience’ to the centre. ‘We believe that under Katie’s leadership, QWC will continue to flourish as a national leader in the literature and publishing sector,’ said Gillespie.

Woods begins in her role on 18 May.
