Radcliffe awarded inaugural Yale Publishing Course scholarship

Potton & Burton managing director Emma Radcliffe has been awarded the inaugural W E and M L Forde Publishing Scholarship to the Yale Publishing Course, administered by the Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ).

The annual NZ$13,000 (A$11,853) scholarship is provided to a publisher to attend the week-long Yale Publishing Course at Yale University in mid-July.

Radcliffe, who has been with Potton & Burton for more than seven years, said in a statement she was delighted with the opportunity to immerse herself in ‘a programme designed to encourage new strategies and ways of thinking about publishing’. ‘It will also allow me to benchmark Potton & Burton against other international publishers and enables me to bring their best practices back to New Zealand,’ said Radcliffe.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, PANZ announced the formation of the W E and M L Forde Publishing Scholarship in September. The scholarship is named in honour of Margaret and Ted Forde and funded by a legacy left by Margaret. It will be awarded annually for four years and is open PANZ members who have at least 12 months’ experience in the New Zealand publishing industry.
