Readings wins Bookstore of the Year award at LBF

Readings has won the inaugural Bookstore of the Year Award at the 2016 London Book Fair International Excellence Awards.

Readings was cited for ‘its community outreach, support of Australian authors and its help for non-profit organisations working on literacy initiatives’, including its work through the Readings Foundation, its ‘extensive’ events program, and its New Australian Fiction and Children’s Book prizes.

In a statement Readings MD Mark Rubbo said ‘we’re delighted and extremely honoured to receive this award’. ‘It’s a reflection of the quality of Australian independent bookshops,’ said Rubbo.

The shortlist for the award, which was open to all bookstores outside the UK, also included Hoepli from Italy, Rahva Raamat from Estonia and Sanlian Bookhouse from China. For more information about the awards, click here.
