Kindle Unlimited launches in Australia

Amazon’s ebook subscription service Kindle Unlimited has been made available in Australia.

Amazon is charging A$13.99 per month for the Australian Kindle Unlimited service, which has a library of almost 1.4m titles. This includes just under 10,000 titles by Australian authors available through the service.

Members of the Australian service can borrow up to 10 titles at a time.

The US service, which also includes a selection of audiobooks and magazines, costs US$9.99 (A$12.87) per month.

Amazon Kindle vice-president David Naggar said the company was ‘delighted’ to launch the service in Australia, reports Goodereader. ‘For less than the cost of a best-selling paperback, readers now have unlimited access to over one million titles, allowing them to discover new authors and books, including top sellers and tens of thousands of inspiring stories from local authors.’

The service is available through the Kindle and its Android and iOS smartphone apps.
