‘Introducing Teddy’ makes ALA ‘Rainbow List’

Jessica Walton’s Introducing Teddy (illus by Dougal MacPherson, Bloomsbury) has made the American Library Association’s (ALA) annual Rainbow List’s Top Ten books with significant gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) content aimed at youths.

Walton’s picture book introduces ‘very young readers to understanding gender identity and transition’. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Bloomsbury USA acquired world rights to the book in 2015 after it began as a Kickstarter project, raising over $20,000.

The Rainbow Book List is created by the Rainbow Book List Committee of ALA’s LGBT Round Table, and is intended to aid youth in selecting ‘high-quality books’ and to aid librarians serving children and young adults. To see the list, click here.
