Dattner to step down as SPN general manager
The Small Press Network (SPN) has announced that general manager Zoe Dattner will step down from her role in January.
The SPN said in a statement that Dattner and the board ‘came to the decision that now was a good time to open up the role to a new candidate’ following ‘an incredibly successful year, which saw the organisation launch an international digital distribution network and an independent publishing conference’.
Dattner started working for the network, which was previously known as SPUNC (the Small Press Underground Networking Community) in August 2008, but had been involved with the organisation since it was established in 2006 through her publishing company Sleepers Publishing. The SPN said Dattner will ‘continue to be closely involved in the organisation for the foreseeable future and remains committed to supporting the board and the organisation’s membership’.
‘I’ve enjoyed my roles at the Small Press Network immensely,’ said Dattner. ‘It’s an incredible little organisation and I’m excited for its future and for everything we’ve achieved for the small press sector in Australia over the past four or five years.’
The SPN is now advertising for a new general manager to fill the part-time position, which is based at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne. See jobs for more information.
As previously reported by Bookseller+Publisher, the SPN plans to launch a year-long roadshow in 2013 that will involve events in every state.
