Dianne Wolfer wins SCBWI award

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) has presented the 2013 Louise Schofield Award for Services to SCBWI Australia West to children’s author Dianne Wolfer.

Wolfer, who lives on the south coast of Western Australia, is the author of 14 books for children and young readers, including Light Horse Boy, Lighthouse Girl, Choices, Photographs in the Mud and Horse Mad (all Fremantle Press). In a statement, SCBWI said that Wolfer has been a ‘tireless supporter and advocate for the sector over many years, mentoring and supporting pre-published authors and giving generously of her time to the SCBWI West team’.

The Louise Schofield Award was established in 2011 and is presented biennially to a SCBWI member to recognise their contribution to the children’s book community. The award was founded in memory of SCBWI member and author Louise Schofield. The inaugural Louise Schofield Award was presented to Meg McKinlay.
