Tulba shortlisted for Dylan Thomas Prize

Australian author Majok Tulba has been shortlisted for this year’s Dylan Thomas Prize in the UK.

Tulba’s novel Beneath the Darkening Sky (Hamish Hamilton) is shortlisted along with two other novels, two works of poetry and two short stories, all of which are debut works. The other authors on the shortlist are: Tim Leach (The Last King of Lydia, Atlantic), Marli Roode (Call It Dog, Atlantic), Claire Vaye Watkins, (Battleborn, Granta), Prajwal Parajuly (The Gurkha’s Daughter, Quercus), James Brookes (Sins of the Leopard, Salt) and Jemma L King (The Shape of a Forest, Parthian).

The winner will receive a cash prize of £30,000 (approximately A$51,180) and a bronze bust of Dylan Thomas. The winner’s announcement will be made at a ceremony in Swansea, Wales, the birthplace of Dylan Thomas, in November.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, UK author Emma Chapman (How to Be a Good Wife, Picador), who spent the past four years living in Australia, was also longlisted for the prize. To see the full longlist, click here.
