London longlisted for Wellcome Book Prize

Joan London’s novel The Golden Age (Vintage, published in the UK by Europa Editions) has been longlisted for the Wellcome Book Prize in the UK.

The annual prize, worth £30,000 (A$49,578), is for the best new work of fiction or nonfiction centred on medicine and health.

London’s novel centres on a young boy in Perth in the 1950s who is learning to walk again after contracting polio. It is one of 12 books longlisted for the prize.

The shortlist will be announced on 14 March and the winner on 24 April.
