Mary Gilmore Award 2017 shortlist announced

The shortlist for this year’s Mary Gilmore Award, presented by the Association for the Study of Australian Literature (ASAL) for best first book of poetry published in the past two calendar years, has been announced.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • Glasshouses (Stuart Barnes, UQP)
  • Sydney Road Poems (Carmine Frascarelli, rabbit)
  • False Nostalgia (Aden Rolfe, Giramondo)
  • Lemons in the Chicken Wire (Alison Whittaker, Magabala).

The winner will be announced at the ASAL’s annual conference in Melbourne in July. The award is judged by Michael Farrell, Ann Vickery and Justin Clemens.
