Avila shortlisted for Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for Best Unpublished Manuscript
Brisbane-based writer Jacob P Avila has been shortlisted for the UK’s Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for Best Unpublished Manuscript, which is open to unpublished and self-published works.
Avila has been shortlisted for his self-published book Cave Diver. He is one of six authors shortlisted for the award, alongside writers from the UK, Canada and the US. Each of the shortlisted authors receive support from literary consultant David Lleweln, while the winner receives a publishing deal with Bonnier.
The Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for a published work—worth £15,000 (A$27,900)—is on hold for 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
