There\u2019s a handful of these emails from readers every month.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, there\u2019s no quick trick to getting your title stocked at bookshops. Space is limited, staff are busy, and there\u2019s dozens of other new releases coming in each month from the major publishers. You might even be dealing with a chain store where all buying decisions are made at head office.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not to say it\u2019s hopeless. If you\u2019re willing to do the work\u2014and you can convince the right bookseller your title has a market\u2014you might get lucky. I\u2019ve dug through the <em>Independent Publishing <\/em>archives to find some articles\u2014one of which is republished below\u2014featuring booksellers on what can help them decide to stock a self-published book.
