Romance Writers of Australia Conference 2023 program revealed<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Romance Writers of Australia (RWA) annual conference will be held in Sydney from 11\u201313 August at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.<\/p>\n

Under the theme of \u2018All That Glitters\u2019, the program aims to cater to writers at all stages of their careers, from those just starting out to established authors.<\/p>\n

New Zealand gothic romance author Steffanie Holmes will present the Saturday morning keynote \u2018Don\u2019t quit before the miracle (and other things I\u2019ve learned about publishing romance)\u2019, followed by a discussion on \u2018what\u2019s hot, what\u2019s not, and what will be\u2019 with literary agent Tanera Simons, Tule Publishing editorial director\u00a0Kelly Hunter, Simon & Schuster associate publisher, fiction and audio Anthea Bariamis and Harlequin head of local publishing Jo Mackay.<\/p>\n

Sessions at the conference include author\u00a0Cassie Hamer\u00a0talking about writing from multiple points of view; narrator Jodie Harris explaining audiobook production; author Anita Heiss and creative writing teacher Lisa Heidke talking about First Nations books; authors AK Mulford and Anne Kemp getting into the nitty gritty of TikTok; authors Saman Shad and Emma Grey explaining how to weave personal stories into romance; and rights agent Alex Adsett talking publishing contracts.<\/p>\n

The Romantic Book of the Year (Ruby) Awards presentation will take place during the Saturday night gala awards dinner. Tickets for the gala dinner and cocktail party are separate from the conference registration and workshop registration.<\/p>\n

Writing NSW Speculative Fiction Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another writer\u2019s festival which may be of interest to certain Independent Publishing <\/em>readers is Writing NSW’s Speculative Fiction Festival, to be held at Callan Park, Lilyfield on Saturday 24 June.<\/p>\n

Curated by author Alan Baxter, the program features leading authors, publishers, editors, and agents discussing\u00a0 craft, process, and opportunities, and offering valuable insights and tips on every aspect of publishing.<\/p>\n
