Readers beware, this isn’t your typical business book. Join us as we pull back the curtain on the darling of the fashion world, Shoes of Prey. All the metrics pointed to huge scalability. To a huge business.
To a huge success.

But it didn’t succeed. In 2018 the business failed. And this is that story.

Available November 2019

About the book

Jodie Fox, author and co-founder of Shoes of Prey, shares for the first time the raw and true story behind the infamous fashion venture. Reboot: Probably more than you ever wanted to know about starting a global business is a story about a business that didn’t succeed.

Most books about entrepreneurs and businesses are reflections with 20:20 hindsight and rose-coloured glasses. They’re written when success is a sure thing, when everything seemed like a perfect decision, or a perfect lesson. But what about the businesses that don’t make it?

Jodie charts the rapid rise and the eventual fall of her beloved Shoes of Prey. She shares what it felt like at ground zero and the critical decisions she made along the way, sharing her frameworks.

It probably is more than you ever wanted to know about starting a global business.

A note to you from Jodie

Sometimes, things just don’t work out.

And we feel alone. And incapable. And frustrated.

Yet there are almost no books on business shelves that talk about the resilience, intelligence and insanity involved in running and growing a business. From the practical day-to-day decision making, to the strategic lightning bolts of intelligence.

There are even fewer business books that talk about what happens when a business fails. Or how that journey feels.

There are business shelves filled with books about the outliers. Amazon, Nike, Uber … But 98% of businesses don’t make it past their first year of trade. We are seeing entrepreneurialism gain traction like never before. It’s a time to build and grow. To grow, we need to share the stories in which we learned our best lessons, so that we can save each other from falling into the same potholes, to know we are not alone and that we are, in fact, totally capable.

Reboot is the raw and true journey of my business that scaled from my lounge-room to the world stage (and runways) and, finally, to closure in 2018. It’s a story that covers not only my business journey, but my personal journey—divorcing a co-founder, avoiding being kidnapped in China and dealing with an entirely new normal on closing my business.

It’s a story of finding hope every single morning to Reboot

I hope you’ll join me in the recounting of these past 10 years.

I can’t wait to share it with you,

Jodie
