Sometimes, things just don’t work out.
And we feel alone. And incapable. And frustrated.
Yet there are almost no books on business shelves that talk about the resilience, intelligence and insanity involved in running and growing a business. From the practical day-to-day decision making, to the strategic lightning bolts of intelligence.
There are even fewer business books that talk about what happens when a business fails. Or how that journey feels.
There are business shelves filled with books about the outliers. Amazon, Nike, Uber … But 98% of businesses don’t make it past their first year of trade. We are seeing entrepreneurialism gain traction like never before. It’s a time to build and grow. To grow, we need to share the stories in which we learned our best lessons, so that we can save each other from falling into the same potholes, to know we are not alone and that we are, in fact, totally capable.
Reboot is the raw and true journey of my business that scaled from my lounge-room to the world stage (and runways) and, finally, to closure in 2018. It’s a story that covers not only my business journey, but my personal journey—divorcing a co-founder, avoiding being kidnapped in China and dealing with an entirely new normal on closing my business.
It’s a story of finding hope every single morning to Reboot.
I hope you’ll join me in the recounting of these past 10 years.
I can’t wait to share it with you,
Jodie
