HarperCollins Australia would like to congratulate Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on winning the US National Book Critics Circle Award with her acclaimed novel, Americanah. Americanah has also been longlisted for the Baileys Women’s Fiction Prize (previously known as the Orange Prize).
Chimananda won the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction in 2007 for Half of a Yellow Sun, which will be a feature film this month.

The second-ever Stella Prize winner will be awarded in Sydney on the evening of Tuesday 29th April. The Stella Prize celebrates Australian women’s literature with a prize worth $50,000.

Hachette Australia is thrilled to congratulate Maxine Beneba Clarke for winning the 2014 Hazel Rowley Literary fellowship.
The Fellowship will enable Maxine to travel the world, researching her family’s migration path from Africa through to Australia for part two of her memoir about growing up black in white middle-class Australia, The Hate Race, to be published by Hachette as part of her three book deal. Maxine has said “The Hazel Rowley Fellowship will make this life-changing journey, and my documentation of it, a reality”. Maxine’s first book, Foreign Soil, will be published in May.
