First ILF fundraiser x

More than 180 booksellers, publishers, authors and readers packed Preston City Hall for Melbourne’s first Indigenous Literacy Foundation Trivia Night last Thursday.

Organised by a committed group of Melbourne supporters of the ILF, the evening featured Indigenous singer Kutcha Edwards, Andy Griffiths and RockWiz’s own Brian Nankervis as quizmaster and MC. In an action-packed evening there was a successful auction, various fundraising activities and – of course – a very entertaining quiz.

According to Joel Becker, chief executive of the ABA, “More than $5000 was raised on ticket sales alone, with more than $9000 in gross income on the night. We appreciate the support that the literary community has given to ILF, and particularly want to thank Kutcha, Andy, Brian, the organising committee and the many sponsors who donated the prizes and auction items.”

The winning table consisted of staff from the Australian Booksellers Association, booksellers from Readings, authors, the MWF Program Manager and partners and friends. This was indicative of the range of people attending and supporting the aims of the ILF.
