Australia’s only creative writing school inside a publishing house, Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin, will offers its flagship course in two phases in 2016.
Writing a Novel: First Draft starting in February (3 months) will be followed by Writing a Novel: Second Draft starting in June (3 months) in both Sydney and Melbourne. For those who already have a draft novel, the Second Draft course will also be available in Sydney in February. The Second Draft course can also be completed the following year, allowing more time to complete a first draft, and spread out the financial investment if required.
The Writing a Novel course is renowned for the careful selection of tutors (experienced, acclaimed authors who are also excellent teachers) and the direct input of Allen & Unwin’s publishers.
2016’s directors are Kathryn Heyman (following her sell-out writing workshops at the Sydney Writers’ Festival) and James Bradley in Sydney; and Toni Jordan, Paddy O’Reilly and Carrie Tiffany in Melbourne. These multi-award winning novelists consistently receive outstanding student feedback and students will also benefit from the structure of regular workshops and one-on-one consultations.
2016 will be a golden year for the Academy with three novels by alumni hitting bookstores.
Faber Writing Academy is offering one scholarship in both Sydney and Melbourne for the Writing a Novel: First Draft courses. Visit www.faberwritingacademy.com.au for details.
