Simon & Schuster Australia and Film Art Media are delighted to announce that Ann Turner will write the screen adaptation of The Lost Swimmer. Work will commence shortly following the recent development funding decision by Screen Australia. Sue Maslin, the producer of last year’s box office smash hit Australian film, The Dressmaker, will produce the film.
‘Ann Turner’s debut novel has all the hallmarks for a brilliant suspense thriller and we are delighted to be working with her to adapt it into a film with international audience appeal,’ said Maslin.
‘The Dressmaker was also an adaptation and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that audiences embrace films based on highly visual and emotionally engaging novels begging to be told on the big screen. The Lost Swimmer is exactly this kind of story’, said Maslin.
Simon & Schuster Australia have also signed two new books from Ann Turner which will be published in 2018 and 2019.
‘We are very excited to be signing another two books from Ann Turner,’ said Larissa Edwards, head of publishing at Simon & Schuster Australia.
‘Ann is a an astonishing writer whose prose has entranced and engaged readers since her highly successful debut novel was published in 2015, which she has followed up this year with the equally wonderful Out of the Ice.’
Her new book Out of the Ice was published last month and has already received rave reviews. The Australian recently said: ‘Turner is a steely and confident writer, concerned in the main part with reeling her reader in and out of suspense with a sense of concentrated exhilaration… Out of the Ice is a cinematic page-turner that’s well worth the price of admission to the movie house of fiction.’
