Key dates for Lonely Planet’s distribution move to United Book Distributors

As previously announced Lonely Planet’s distribution centre, located in Bentleigh, Victoria, will close on Thursday, 30 August 2018 and all supply of Lonely Planet product will move to United Book Distributors (UBD) from Monday, 3 September 2018.

UBD will facilitate an end-to-end process for Lonely Planet including all order fulfillment, return authorisation and processing, debt reconciliation and customer service.

To assist in a smooth transition the tables below indicate the key Bentleigh cut-off and UBD commencement dates for orders and returns.

Orders

Customers that operate with PacStream ordering system will need to update their SAN number for all Lonely Planet product to UBD’s SAN on Friday, 31 August 2018.

Returns

Please note – UBD will not be able to accept return authorisations that contain a Lonely Planet authorisation number. By extension UBD cannot accept any stock sent to them containing a Lonely Planet returns authorisation number.

Therefore, to allow stores enough time to request urgent returns and send this stock back to Lonely Planet’s Bentleigh warehouse for processing, the last day for Lonely Planet granting authorisations will be Friday, 10 August 2018.

No need for concern though as UBD will commence authorisation of Lonely Planet returns from Monday, 3 September 2018.

All stock authorised for return by Lonely Planet and containing a Lonely Planet returns authorisation number must be returned to Lonely Planet’s Bentleigh warehouse by COB Thursday, 30 August 2018.

Text releases film tie-in edition of ‘Ladies in Black’ early in response to huge interest

Bruce Beresford’s film adaptation of Madeleine St John’s classic novel The Women in Black will hit cinemas on 20 September.

Set in a Sydney department store in 1959, the feel-good film has earned rave reviews at advance screenings and will be accompanied by a major marketing campaign from Sony Pictures.

In response to huge trade and consumer interest, Text will release the tie-in edition of Ladies in Black (9781925603996) early, on 6 August. For a reading copy or marketing collateral, please email sales@textpublishing.com.au.

 

Hardie Grant distribution now with Harper Entertainment Distribution Services

Distribution services Hardie Grant (incorporating client publishers) have successfully transferred to Harper Entertainment Distribution Services (HEDS). Hardie Grant would like to thank both United Book Distributors (UBD) and HEDS in assisting with this smooth transition.

All back orders held by UBD at the end of June have been transferred for supply by HEDS and all customers are reminded that future orders for Hardie Grant and client publisher titles are to be placed via HEDS.

Returns Authorisations (RA’s) issued by UBD

  • UBD will process returns for all RA’s issued by UBD and issue credit notes to customers until Thursday 27th September but only if the returns are received by UBD no later than Friday 31st August.
  • Books received by UBD after Friday 31st August and/or sent to UBD without a RA will be returned to the customer at the customer’s expense.
  • For titles less than 12 months old customers are reminded they can cancel non-actioned RA’s issued by UBD and request an updated RA via HEDS (see below).

Returns Authorisations (RA’s) HEDS

HEDS will accept requests for RA’s for Hardie Grant as long as they were invoiced by UBD or HEDS less than 12 months from the date when the customer requests the RA.
