Stella Prize longlist, Frankfurt announces hybrid event

The longlist for this year’s Stella Prize, announced last week, includes short fiction, a young adult novel, three works of nonfiction and a novel in translation, and comprises five works by debut authors.

Also announced in the past week were shortlists for Overland’s Judith Wright Poetry and Neilma Sidney Short Story prizes, the winners of the joanne burns Microlit Award and a new nonfiction prize from Island.

Meanwhile, Max Allen’s Intoxicating: Ten drinks that shaped Australia (Thames & Hudson) won the Drink Award at the André Simon Food and Drink Book Awards and Robert Wood, creative director of Perth’s Centre for Stories, has won a Westpac Social Change Fellowship worth $50,000.

Overseas, this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair will take place as a hybrid event in October, and PRH has launched an online casting platform for voiceover actors.
