Thrillers crime and suspense: Are you writing the next big thing

Varuna, the National Writers’ House and Affirm Press are pleased to announce the callout for our 2022/3 program.

Combining a Varuna residency with an intensive mentorship, the 2022/3 program will bring together three or four selected writers to develop their manuscripts under the guidance of the Affirm Press editorial team.

‘At Affirm Press we’re always on the hunt for writers who have a killer idea and knack for building atmosphere,’ said Ruby Ashby-Orr, senior editor.

‘I think my team would agree that thrillers and crime novels are particularly fun to work on, and surely there couldn’t be a more perfect place to do that workshopping than in an old mansion tucked away in the mountains.’

The mentorship and residency at Varuna will help writers to hone the pacing, plotting and characterisation essential for an unputdownable read.

Applications close 10am AEDT on 3 October 2022.

Applicants must be available to attend the residency week which will take place from 27 March–3 April 2023.

For more information and to apply please visit the Varuna website: https://www.varuna.com.au/fellowships/affirm2022
