Riwoe, Beudel awarded CA author fellowships, ADS adds Toll, new residency for children's authors x

Mirandi Riwoe and Saskia Beudel are the recipients of this year’s Copyright Agency author fellowships; Melbourne Writers Festival, which took place over four days earlier this month, has reported this year’s box office was ‘comparable’ to previous years when the event ran across 10 days; Alliance Distribution Services has added Toll as a delivery partner alongside its existing freight partner XL Express in preparation for the Christmas period; and Deakin University and the Copyright Agency have created a new residency for children’s authors, worth $20,000.

Jacqueline Bublitz’s debut novel Before You Knew My Name (A&U) took home both the Best Novel and Best First Novel prizes at the 2022 Ngaio Marsh Awards; the winners of the Environment Award for Children’s Literature and Karajia Award were announced, as were the winners of the 2022 NT Literary Awards and the ACT Book of the Year shortlist.

In the UK, Joseph Namara Hollis has won the Klaus Flugge Prize for his picture book Pierre’s New Hair (Tate Publishing).
