Product executive, Sydney

Hachette Australia is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated product executive to join the international product team to oversee the Orion and John Murray Publishing lists, including Laurence King Publishing.

Reporting to the product manager, this role will be responsible for bringing incredible authors to market including Ian Rankin, Billy Connolly, Nicole LePera, Leigh Bardugo, Brandon Sanderson and Candice Carty Williams amongst many others!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing and maintaining the integrity of all data pertaining to these lists
  • Frontlist inventory management including pricing and scheduling
  • Identifying and championing key titles in company meetings and conferences
  • Overseeing the inclusion of all list titles and material in the monthly sales e-kits and order forms
  • Liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Achieving annual budget outcomes and stock KPIs
  • Effectively communicating title strategy and priorities with internal and external contacts.

Who we are looking for:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in publishing, bookselling or a complementary industry
  • Strong understanding and interest in product management
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative and busy team environment
  • Strong financial and commercial understanding
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office—particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of Biblio and Vista information systems are an advantage
  • A passion for publishing, stock management and an active interest in ideas and culture in general are all prerequisites.
