John Flanagan voted ‘Australia’s Favourite Author’ in Booktopia poll

Children’s book author John Flanagan has been voted ‘Australia’s Favourite Author’ in Booktopia’s annual poll.

Booktopia announced the top 10 finalists on its website on 23 January. They were (from one to 10): John Flanagan, Liane Moriarty, Tim Winton, Matthew Reilly, Kerry Greenwood, Monica McInerney, Andy Griffiths, Markus Zusak, Mem Fox and John Marsden.

Flanagan is the bestselling author of the ‘Ranger’s Apprentice’ and ‘Brotherband’ series (Random House). A film adaptation of ‘Ranger’s Apprentice’ is expected to start production this year.

The ‘Australia’s Favourite Author’ promotion coincides with Booktopia’s ‘month of Australian stories’. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Booktopia began announcing the top 50 finalists on its website on 9 January. Nominations, heats and polling were conducted from 1 to 18 January. Last year’s ‘Australia’s Favourite Novelist’  winner was Matthew Reilly.
