Express Media Outstanding Achievement by a Young Person in the Literary Arts shortlist announced

Express Media has announced the shortlist for the Outstanding Achievement by a Young Person in the Literary Arts Award.

The shortlisted writers are:

  • Chloe Higgins
  • Eliza Henry-Jones
  • Ellen van Neerven
  • Helen Scheuerer
  • Jane Howard.

The inaugural award aims to recognise young Australians under 30 years of age who have shown ‘excellence in the literary arts’, and is open to writers working across a number of literary fields, including creative writing, nonfiction, journalism, poetry, editing, publishing, playwriting, screenwriting, comedy writing, game writing and radio.

The 2015 prize is judged by playwright and Victorian Indigenous Literature Officer Jane Harrison, La Mama Theatre artistic director and CEO Liz Jones, the Wheeler Centre head of programming Emily Sexton and Emerging Writers’ Festival general manager Kate Callingham, and the winner to be announced at the Express Media Awards on 3 December.
