Xoum appoints Grundy as associate publisher, announces new literary imprint

Sydney-based independent publisher Xoum Publishing has appointed Alice Grundy in the newly created role of associate publisher, where she will head its new literary imprint Brio.

Grundy has more than 10 years’ publishing experience, most recently as managing editor at Giramondo. She is also the co-founder of literary journal Seizure.

Xoum Publishing was co-founded by former Picador publisher Rod Morrison, and Jon MacDonald and David Henley of publishing services company Xou Pty Ltd.

Morrison said the Brio list will be ‘intentionally boutique and characterised by books of the highest literary merit—superb writing and bold ideas—by both local and international authors’. ‘We’ve long admired Alice’s intellect, style and tenacity and can’t wait to start working with her,’ said Morrison.

The first book on the Brio imprint will be Anjum Hasan’s novel The Cosmopolitans, released in September, followed by Elizabeth Tan’s short story collection Rubik early next year.
