Davitt Awards 2016 winners announced

Sisters in Crime announced the winners of the 2016 Davitt Awards for the best crime books by Australian women at an event in Melbourne on 27 August.

The winning titles in each category are:

Adult novel

  • Resurrection Bay (Emma Viskic, Echo)

Young adult novel

  • Risk (Fleur Ferris, Random House)

Children’s Novel

  • Under Suspicion: Friday Barnes book two (R A Spratt, Random House)

Nonfiction

  • Wild Man (Alecia Simmonds, Affirm Press)

Debut (joint-winners)

  • Resurrection Bay (Emma Viskic, Echo).
  • Risk (Fleur Ferris, Random House)

Readers’ choice award

  • Resurrection Bay (Emma Viskic, Echo).

The winners were chosen from shortlists announced in July. This year’s judging panel comprised librarian Jacqui Horwood; booksellers Deborah Crabtree and Deb Force; forensic scientists Maggie Baron and Debbie Stephens; and crime reader Michaela Lobb.
