Voss Literary Prize 2016 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2016 Voss Literary Prize has been announced.

The shortlisted titles are:

  • Coming Rain (Stephen Daisley, Text)
  • The Life of Houses (Lisa Gorton, Giramondo)
  • A Guide to Berlin (Gail Jones, Vintage)
  • The World Without Us (Mireille Juchau, Bloomsbury)
  • The Waiting Room (Leah Kaminsky, Vintage)
  • The Natural Way of Things (Charlotte Wood, A&U).

The shortlist was chosen from a longlist of 10, announced in August.

Launched in 2014, the Voss Literary Prize is awarded to the best novel published in Australia in the previous year, and is named after historian Vivian Robert Le Vaux Voss.

The award is managed by the Australian University Heads of English, the peak body for the study of English at Australian universities, and is judged this year by Elaine Lindsay, Anthony Uhlmann, Brenda Walker, David Ellison and Amanda Nettelbeck.
