Amba Press acquires ACER Press titles

Amba Press will acquire 38 educational titles under an agreement with ACER Press, the publishing arm of the Australian Council for Educational Research.

Amba Press said, “The acquisition represents a natural alignment between two respected organisations with a shared commitment to evidence-informed education and supporting teachers, leaders and learners.”

ACER Press has published research-based educational resources since 1997, but was recently closed following an organisational restructure. Amba’s acquisitions include titles by Vanessa Hamilton, Ken Rigby, Michael C Nagel, Andrew Fuller and others. Also acquired, is the award-winning Kit and Arlo Find a Way by Ingrid Laguna and Vanessa Hamilton, and books from the Leading Improvement, Creative Activities in Maths and Play Matters series.

Amba’s managing director Alicia Cohen said, “ACER Press has long produced resources that genuinely make a difference in classrooms and communities, and this acquisition continues that legacy. We’re deeply committed to ensuring these works remain available, valued and in the hands of educators for years to come.”

Amba Press was founded in 2021 with the aim of “amplifying the work and knowledge of Australian educators and educational consultants.” It acquired Hawker Brownlow Education’s authors and backlist in 2023.
