Writing Australia appointments

Writing Australia has announced the appointment of Léa Antigny as program manager and Emily Stewart as senior project officer.

Antigny has worked at Text Publishing, Pan Macmillan, Giramondo and Pantera Press where she was publicity director. Her most recent role was communications advisor at the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Antigny began in her Writing Australia role on 1 December, and is set to “manage the development and delivery of investment programs that incorporate the strategic objectives of Writing Australia, to support the sustainability of the Australian literature sector,” said Writing Australia.

Antigny said, “It’s an honour to join Wenona and the new team at Writing Australia as we gear up to launch new programs supporting our national literature sector. I am deeply passionate about ensuring Australian writers and readers live in a thriving ecosystem, so it feels incredibly lucky that my experience across the publishing industry has led me here.”

Stewart began at Writing Australia as senior project officer in November. She has worked in the publishing industry for 15 years, including within editorial and international rights roles at Giramondo Publishing and NewSouth Books. Stewart is a poet, with her books published by Vagabond Press. She is also the recipient of a Marten Bequest Scholarship for poetry. Her most recent role included managing tenders for large infrastructure projects and teaching in literature and creative writing programs at the University of New England.
