Rossell selected for Greenway Residency

Melbourne writer and illustrator Judith Rossell has been selected for the inaugural writer residency at the UK National Trust’s Greenway property.

The Greenway Residency is a project of UNESCO City of Literature Exeter, in Devon. It aims “to give space and support for writers from 3 Cities of Literature to visit Devon where they can develop their practice in an inspiring and important literary setting”.

Rossell joins Aining Wen from Nanjing, China, and Manjiri Prabhu from Kozhikode, India, in the inaugural residency, which runs from 25 September to 16 October 2026. The first two weeks will be spent at Greenway, the holiday home of Agatha Christie, with a further week in Exeter.

Exeter City of Literature’s executive director Anna Cohn Orchard said, “This residency is what the UNESCO Cities of Literature Network does best: connects extraordinary writers across borders and gives people space to create. Greenway is such a special place to spend time as a writer, and we’re excited to welcome Manjiri, Judith, and Aining into Devon’s literary community.”

More information on the residency can be found on the Exeter City of Literature website.
