2012 YABBA winners announced

The winners of the 2012 Young Australian’s Best Book Awards (YABBAs) have been announced.

The winning titles are:

  • Fiction Years 7-9: Phoenix Files: Arrival (Chris Morphew, HGE)
  • Fiction Older Readers: The 13-Storey Treehouse (Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton, Pan)
  • Fiction Younger Readers: Alice-Miranda at School (Jacqueline Harvey, Random House)
  • Picture Storybooks: Fearless in Love (Colin Thompson & Sarah Davis, ABC Books).

 

The awards were presented at an event at Trinity Grammar School in Kew, Melbourne, on 7 November. Among the authors present at the event were Andy Griffiths, Felice Arena, Bob Graham, Sally Rippin, Claire Saxby, Elizabeth Honey and Oliver Phommavanh.

The YABBAs are Victoria’s annual children’s choice awards. The winners of this year’s awards were selected from the Reading & Enjoying Australian Literature (REAL) Awards shortlist, which also acts as a shortlist for the children’s choice awards in the Australian Capital Territory (COOL Awards) and New South Wales (KOALAs).
