HarperCollins launches digital YA imprint in US

HarperCollins is launching a new digital imprint for YA short stories and novellas in a range of genres, reports the New York Times. To be called HarperTeen Impulse, the imprint will officially launch on 4 December with titles including the novella Supid Perfect World by ‘Leviathan’ author Scott Westerfield and the novella Breathless by Sophie Jordan, a companion to her ‘Firelight’ fantasy series. ‘Readers of YA have embraced digital reading in a big way,’ said president and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books in the US Susan Katz. ‘We’re seeing short-form content becoming more popular in the digital marketplace, and HarperTeen Impulse allows us to experiment with new concepts and deliver content quickly.’ The imprint will reportedly publish up to four new books on the first Tuesday of every month, to be available from ebook retailers at prces ranging from 99 cents to US$2.99 (A$2.86).
