Morton named ‘Australia’s favourite novelist’ in Booktopia poll

Kate Morton has topped the winners list in Booktopia’s search for ‘Australia’s favourite novelist’. Booktopia announced the top 50 novelists on its website on 25 January after receiving ‘hundreds of nominations’ and ‘tens of thousands’ of votes. The top 10 finalists were Rachael Johns, Craig Silvey, Marcus Zusak, Bryce Courtenay, Isobelle Carmody, Ruth Park, John Marsden, Monica McInerney, Tim Winton and, in first place, Kate Morton. Booktopia also announced that it has created a section of its website comprising all-Australian content. The bookseller’s ‘Australian Stories Page’ offers a database ‘filled with only the best Australia has to offer’, showcasing Australian authors such as Bryce Courtenay, Anna Funder, Tim Winton and Andy Griffiths. To launch the ‘Australian Stories Page’ Booktopia offered 30% off all local titles on Australia Day.
