2013 APA Book Design Awards shortlists announced
The shortlisted titles for this year’s Australian Publishers Association (APA) Book Design Awards have been announced.
The titles shortlisted for the Children’s Cover of the Year Award are:
- I Can Jump Puddles: Australian Children’s Classics (Alan Marshall, Viking), designed by Allison Colpoys
- The Children of the King (Sonya Hartnett, Viking), designed by Marina Messiha
- The Dreadful Fluff (Aaron Blabey, Viking), designed by Elissa Webb
- The Gobbledeygook is Eating a Book (Justine Clarke & Arthur Baysting, illus by Tom Jellett, Viking), designed by Kirby Armstrong
- Sophie Scott Goes South (Alison Lester, Viking), designed by Tony Palmer.
The titles shortlisted for the Cover of the Year Award are:
- Electrical Principles (Peter Phillips, Cengage Learning), designed by Danielle Maccarone
- The Essential Leunig: Cartoons from a Winding Path (Michael Leunig, Viking), designed by Adam Laszczuk
- My Greek Island Home (Claire Lloyd, Lantern), designed by Evi Oetomo
- Mr Wilkinson’s Favourite Vegetables (Matt Wilkinson, Murdoch Books), designed by Studio Racket
- The Voyage (Murray Bail, Text), designed by W H Chong.

The winners in each category, as well as the winner of the Young Designer of the Year Award, will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Powerhouse Museum on 23 May during the Sydney Writers’ Festival.
