Melbourne Literary Salon launched

The Melbourne Literary Salon, an informal monthly gathering for ‘all who work with books and stories’, will hold its first event on Tuesday 26 March. Organised by Anna Burkey, reader development manager at the State Library of Victoria, the event is based on the long-running Edinburgh Literary Salon, which Burkey set up in 2005. Burkey told Books+Publishing that while ‘there are lots of wonderful literary events in Melbourne’, the Melbourne Literary Salon is ‘a little different’. ‘There’s a sixty-second speech to round up the month’s happenings, and then it’s all about sharing news, ideas, projects. The Lit Salon is for all who work with books and stories: illustrators and animators, librarians and book artists, graphic novelists, journalists, producers and storytellers.’ For more information visit the website here.
