Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2013 announced

In the UK, Waterstones has announced the winners of its Children’s Book Prize for 2013 at a ceremony at Waterstones’ flagship shop in Piccadilly, London. The winner of the overall prize and the Teenage Fiction category was Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher (Gollancz). ‘Ketchup Clouds is a classic coming of age story featuring death, betrayal and redemption,’ said Waterstones children’s buyer Melissa Cox. The winner of the Picture Book category was Lunchtime by Rebecca Cobb (Pan Macmillan) and the winner of the 5-12 Fiction category was Wonder by US author R J Palacio (Bodley Head). The category winners each received £2000 (A$2900) and the overall winner received an additional £3000 (A$4360).
