Dench, Hoffman to star in ‘Esio Trot’ adaptation

The BBC will produce a feature-length film adaptation of the children’s classic Esio Trot by Roald Dahl (various imprints) next year, which will star Dame Judi Dench as Mrs Silver and Dustin Hoffman as her neighbour Mr Hoppy, reports the Bookseller. The film will be created by an award-winning production team, including ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ co-writers Paul Mayhew-Archer and Richard Curtis, producer Hilary Bevan Jones and Emmy award-winning director Dearblha Walsh. BBC One controller Charlotte Moore said she was excited about Dench and Hoffman taking on the roles, calling it ‘stellar casting for one of the nation’s favourite children’s classics’.
