Indigenous Literacy Day today

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) is staging its seventh Indigenous Literacy Day today and is aiming to raise up to $200,000 for Indigenous literacy.

A number of booksellers and publishers are donating a percentage of their takings today to ILF. You can see a list of the participating booksellers here and a list of publishers here.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, fundraising events are being held across the country, including an event at the Sydney Opera house with students and staff from one of Australia’s most remote schools, Tjuntjuntjara Remote Community School in Western Australia.

ILF has also launched a new fundraising campaign called ‘Get Caught Reading’. The social media campaign asks booklovers to make a small donation for Indigenous literacy and upload and share a photo of themselves reading one of their favourite titles. So far, the campaign has raised around $2500.
