Andy Griffiths TV cartoon to premiere tomorrow

A TV cartoon based on Andy Griffiths’ The Day My Bum Went Psycho (Pan) will premiere in Australia tomorrow.

The 80-episode series called The Day My Butt Went Psycho will screen its first episode at 8am on Saturday 21 September on the GO! channel. The series is co-produced by Australian production company Studio Moshi and Canadian company Nelvana, in association with Scholastic USA.

Pan Macmillan’s Kate Nash told Books+Publishing that while Andy Griffiths has had no direct involvement in the cartoon, he has been to an advance screening and is ‘beyond thrilled with what they have achieved’.

‘They have taken the spirit of madness of the original book and used it to create a wonderfully vibrant, funny, surprisingly charming and even madder world than anything I could have dreamed up. I’m sure it will entertain both kids and parents, and spark a renewed interest in the book,’ said Griffiths.
