Australian, NZ books nominated for Goodreads Best Books of 2013

Several Australian and New Zealand titles have made it to the final round of the Goodreads Choice Awards Best Books of 2013.

Eleanor Catton’s The Luminaries (Granta) and Hannah Kent’s Burial Rites (Picador) are nominated in the Best Historical Fiction category; The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion (Text) is nominated in the Best Fiction category; and Lexicon by Max Barry (Mulholland) is in the running in the Best Science Fiction category.

The Goodreads Choice Awards winners are selected over three rounds of voting by Goodreads members, with the final round running from 18-25 November. Winners will be announced on 3 December.

To be eligible for the awards, books must have been published in the English language for the first time in the US between 26 November 2012 and 16 November 2013. Nominations for the first round of voting were generated using statistics of ratings and reviews from the 250 million books added to the Goodreads website in 2013.

The full list of nominations is available here.
