Matthew Reilly novella published as serialised ebook

Pan Macmillan’s digital-only imprint Momentum is publishing Matthew Reilly’s latest novella as a serialised ebook.

The first episode of Troll Mountain, a quest story set in the ‘kingdom of the trolls’, was released on 8 April. The second and third episodes will be released on 15 April and 22 April, respectively, ahead of the complete novella’s release on 29 May. Single episodes are priced at $1.99 and the complete novella is priced at $5.99. The novella is not expected to be released in print.

‘Matt’s always been experimental,’ said Momentum publisher Joel Naoum about the decision to publish Reilly’s novel as an ebook only. ‘When he delivered his novella Pan Macmillan as a company, along with Matt, decided that Momentum was the right home for such an innovative idea.’

Reilly also commented on the decision on his Facebook page, describing the internet as ‘an awesome way to reach readers, especially reluctant ones’. ‘I hope Troll Mountain will bring many non-readers into reading, while at the same time entertaining avid readers. I myself love the feel of a nice hardcover, but, well, every now and then, a guy’s gotta experiment!’ Reilly joked that readers ‘can always print it out off your computer’.
