Hoy joins Murdoch Books

Murdoch Books has announced the appointment of Matt Hoy to the newly created role of sales and marketing director.

Hoy joins the company from Hachette Australia, where he was sales and marketing director for Little, Brown and Orion.

CEO of Murdoch Books parent company Allen & Unwin, Robert Gorman, told Books+Publishing the company was ‘delighted to welcome [Hoy] to Murdoch Books’.

‘Matt is a very experienced publishing professional having worked in the industry for over fifteen years,’ said Gorman. ‘[His] unique ability to generate maximum sales and attention for books in the marketplace will be hugely valuable for Murdoch Books as it continues its rich tradition of publishing bestselling illustrated books.’ 

Hoy said he was ‘very excited to have joined Murdoch Books and Allen & Unwin’.

‘I am really looking forward to working with the team there bringing to Australian booksellers and our international markets, the best and most beautiful illustrated books possible,’ he said.

Hoy started in the role on 17 March.
