Amazon introduces Twitter shopping cart feature

Amazon has introduced a new feature that enables customers to add items to their Amazon carts while they are on Twitter by including a hashtag in a tweet, reports TechCrunch. ‘Simply find a tweet containing an Amazon product link, reply with #AmazonCart, and check out when you are ready, as the product has been quickly and easily saved in your Cart,’ said the company on a YouTube promotional video. The hashtag #amazoncart is used in the US and #amazonbasket in the UK. ‘Twitter offers a great environment for our customers to discover product recommendations from artists, experts, brands and friends,’ an Amazon spokesperson told TechCrunch. ‘[The hashtag] was designed to help customers add products to their cart now without leaving Twitter and come back later to shop and buy on Amazon.’ ‘Amazon declined to confirm how many companies it has signed up to tweet out product links that are identifiable as being sold on Amazon,’ said TechCrunch.
