New appointments at Scribe
Scribe Publications has appointed a new editor and publicist to its team.
Lesley Halm has been appointed editor, replacing Ian See, who has taken up a position as editor at the University of Queensland Press.
Halm is currently editorial assistant and online editor at Island magazine. She was also guest editor of a special edition of Review of Australian Fiction, is co-creator and convenor of an emerging writers’ group in Tasmania, and has worked at Fullers Bookshop in Hobart for the past four years. Halm begins in the role on 2 June.
Kate Blackwood has been appointed publicist, replacing Cora Kipling in a maternity-leave position.
Blackwood has worked for Books+Publishing for the past year and a half, and is currently the editor of Junior Books+Publishing magazine. Blackwood begins in the role on 16 June.
‘Kate has done a wonderful job at Books+Publishing, and we’ll all miss her very much. We plan on bumping into her often at bookish events,’ said Books+Publishing editor-in-chief Andrea Hanke.
Books+Publishing is currently advertising for an assistant editor position.
