Kent, Griffiths win inaugural ABIA/Booktopia People’s Choice Awards

Booktopia has announced the winners of the inaugural Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA)/Booktopia People’s Choice Award.

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent (Picador) won the adult book award and The 39-Storey Treehouse, written by Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Terry Denton (Pan), won the children’s book award.

Booktopia said ‘thousands’ of votes were cast in the inaugural awards.

The other awards in the 2014 ABIAs were announced in Sydney on 23 May.
