ABA forms data and supply chain committee

The Australian Booksellers Association (ABA) has formed a new committee to work through data and supply chain issues.

Members of the committee are: Jon Page (chair, Pages & Pages and Boomerang), Jane Seaton (Beaufort Street Books), Angela Kell-Zippermayr (Booktopia), David Seekamp (ALS Library Services) and Rolf Wilkens (Swinburne University Co-op Bookshop).

ABA chief executive Joel Becker told Books+Publishing that the aim is ‘to work with booksellers, publishers and information providers regarding data standards for ONIX files and exported bibliographic data’ and ‘to coordinate bookseller needs to ensure that TitlePage services provide for the needs of booksellers and the entire supply chain’.

‘The objective is to have consistent, comprehensive and accurate metadata for the industry,’ said Becker.

Becker said the committee has begun a ‘consultation process’ with publishers, distributors and information collators and providers, and hopes to release recommendations within four to six months.
