McInnes national ambassador for the Reading Hour

The Reading Hour has announced Australian actor and writer William McInnes is the national ambassador for the initiative in 2014.

First held during the National Year of Reading in 2012, the initiative is designed to promote the idea that everyone can benefit from reading for at least an hour a week.

This year’s event will be held on Tuesday 19 August from 6-7pm and will involve events and competitions to remind parents and caregivers ‘that reading together doesn’t have to be a massive undertaking in their busy lives, and that sharing a book with a child for 10 minutes a day … will still give that child the best chance of becoming a good reader later in life’.
