Wyld wins 2013 Encore Award

Australian author Evie Wyld has won the £10,000 (A$18,066) Encore Award for her novel All The Birds, Singing (Vintage).

The annual award is presented for the best second novel from any previously published author. Wyld was chosen from a shortlist of six, which included New Zealand author Eleanor Catton for her novel The Luminaries (Granta).

The Encore Award was first awarded in 1990. The 2012 winner was Ted Beauman for The Teleportation Accident (Sceptre).
