Magarey Medal 2014 shortlist announced

The titles shortlisted for the biennial $10,000 Magarey Medal for Biography have been announced.
The shortlisted titles are:
- Kitty’s War (Janet Butler, UQP)
- Eilean Giblin: A Feminist between the Wars (Patricia Clarke, Monash University Publishing)
- The Recluse (Evelyn Juers, Giramondo)
- The Lone Protestor: AM Fernando in Australia and Europe (Fiona Paisley, Aboriginal Studies Press).
The winner of the award will be announced on 9 July at the annual awards ceremony of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature in Sydney.
The Magarey Medal for Biography is awarded to ‘the female author who has published the work judged to be the best biographical writing on an Australian subject in the preceding two years’. If two winner are chosen, the prize is shared between them. The prize is donated by Susan Magarey.
